Default valuation of hostel's name, pretty please

Right now there is just one name what stick to me and what i truly like... but first a little picture:
    - hostel will be located in Berlin, around 120-150 beds
    - it's kind of art/arty hostel. colorful, cheery
    - will have its own little "cultural center"
    - with bar, for sure. open for locals, too.

and the name is FUNKY TOWN HOSTEL.

how does that sounds to you? associations?
if i will find a legal way to do it, there is a song about Funky Town what could play when somebody opening front page: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQ_d2CLAMI4
(yepp, the same what got second wave of popularity after Shrek movie )

It sounds good, but backpackers might get the impression that there is a new hostel chain
    • Funky Hostels (UK)
    • Funky Hostel (Latvia)
    • Funky Chicken Hostel (Romania)
    • Funky Backpackers Hostel (Spain)

Not that you can't use a similar name, but it's something to be aware of...

    FUNKY TURM maybe?

I won´t make serious name suggestions to a potential competitor. Above all because my favorite hostel name, Casa Nostra, has already been stolen.

santa, would be really surprised if you would give suggestions i totally understand.

I was aware of Funky Hostels in Riga and UK but there are more! From other hand- just count how many "backpackers" or "travellers" hostels there are in world
i still really like the name, and its Funky Town Berlin. I was more interested in about associations this name brings up, not that it means smth dirty in Japanese, for example

It is always a good name even if it is a very popular but ONLY in other countries.

If these other hostels are good then they kind of help you...

on the other hand if you want to be different and unique then maybe its not the best shot!

You have a pretty large hostel and I'm sure you can make any good name for yourself no matter what it is... I stayed in hostels with very silly names and believe me, its always way better than a boring one!

    Good luck

I manage Funky Hostel in Latvia. I think its a good name... but you need to have funky everything... dishes... sheets.. ect...

good luck. is there a way that multiple "funky" hostels would benefit each other on google rankings?

A name should reflect the style of the hostel and the way of running it!

Any name is good if it portrays the idea that is in your head.

1.) How about to make a cover instead? All you need is:
    - a free music software and some patience,
    - maybe the notes of Funky town or
    - a friend who can play on an instrument and feed these (not too heavy) notes to the software...

2.) search free music on the net. This one is a bit khm, funny but at least free! (more available here) If you have time to search on the web, you might be able to find better versions.

If you put any music on your website, please make sure you only put it on the intro page instead of all pages. There's nothing more annoying to hear the same first 30 seconds while browsing a website!!!

Finding a proper name for my hostel has been bugging me for the longest time (4 months??) . If you are sold on Funy Town go for it.

But of course you don't want people to associate with Funky Town hostel (UK or Riga) if they are getting shitty reviews...

    Good luck!
