Aveiro Rossio Hostel - New and first Hostel on the city

Hello everyone,

So, I am on those frenetic last days to open my family hostel with a capacity to 38 beds ,with 8, 6, 5 and 4 bunk beds rooms and twin bedrooms also, on Rossio district area in Aveiro - central of Aveiro (Portugal) where the best bars and restaurants are.

My thoughts is to open it next 11 of July, but I am facing last minute delays on the renovation operations... Every single day I stress with the construction guys and it will be a little bit stressy to open it on the date I am thinking, but we are going to do our best...

So, Aveiro is a small city between Oporto (70km) and Lisbon (250Km) - however is the 7th biggest city in Portugal - 10 minutes away by car from the beach – amazing spot to surf, wind and kite-surf and to sail also. One week here and you will have the best brown skin in the world... At 30 minutes away by car we can find lovely country side spots to cannoning or rafting and also to trek some hours on Caramulo mountains with a fresh and clean air.

About the Hostel now, it is an old house with more than 100 years old all renovated with a lovely design and decoration (I hope!!!) – some pictures will come soon... It has a small back yard with a even small terrace and a BBQ area for summer time... J It has a big lounge room, an Internet place with some PC’s, a common kitchen with a table and a table room to play or to have some thematic dinners...

Can you please help me on the logo? My sister and I have different opinion. They are quite similar, but which logo do you prefer, option 1 or 2?!? Please check it attached.

Some news will come soon, but please be free to “opinate” and give a feedback about the logo’s.

I like the logo on the left because it looks like two backpackers going into the hostel, but I think either would work.

You still remember Maria's post about the city... I spoke with her and she will do her final paper about Aveiro Rossio Hostel as it is a real hostel with real issues... Also she will help me with new ideas for it...

My house is 20 seconds walking from that chanel. I forgot to say that Aveiro is Known to ve Venice of Portugal as it has 4 or 5 channels within the city where you can navigate in Moliceiro's, the typical boats from the city...

Thanks for the feedback about the logo. Any idea or something to change?!?

i like option 2 more, i think it's because of symmetry.... the door would be to narrow for this huge backpacks anyway

Yes, I agree on you about the backpackers size... I will change them a dicrease their sizes... I'm working on it.

Good luck with the opening. I prefer the second logo. It appeals to me more.

Are you going to come to the European Hostel Meeting in Catania (Sicily) in March 2010? It would be great to see you there. I'm the organiser of the conference and if you want you could help with one of the workshops (e.g. Starting-up problems for new hostels).

I'd combine the two options then! I like the one with the door but I think it's a bit way on the edge and you could put the backpackers closer to the center as well, this way you could keep the symmetry too. I might would put another line of windows (2-3) among the empty space between the attic windows and the ground floor as it looks a bit empty in the center for me, but those are just my two penny thoughts.

Sorry for the delay to answer, but the work is increasing every single day... LOL

All the other, thanks for the feedback about the logo. I'm still open to new feedbacks... I've already put the backpackers a little bit small...

Irishdon, I'll send you an e-mail soon, but maybe I will accept the challange, I'm thinking to go to Sicilia, but Just in a couple of months I can be shre of that...

Vicking, the location, within the city, couldn't be better. Is it in the center of the center of Aveiro... It is 30 seconds walking to the better restaurants and bars in Aveiro but in a quite street... In front of the house is the Rossio, a green area with palms and the principal channel of the city, spotless... I think...

So, tomorrow the kitchen will be ready and the construction keep going and going... Now I have 15 days delay in construction operations... I still need some days to decorate and clean. The 10th of July is the deadline... I already have some clients...

Of course, all are invited, I make you a special price...
