Does anyone know of some reliable & up-to-date resources for current trends & news in the Hostel world? There's not much activity here & it would be nice to know of other resources. Thanks in advance for any help.

HostelManagement.com also has a separate hostel trends and news section.

This Web site accepts press releases from hostels and organizations related to hostelling. Feel free to submit hostel news about your hostel or about hostelling in general.

I also recommend looking at GOMIO's newsletter. It often has useful information.

Jason, I found your post rather negative. This is a fairly new site which can only grow if more hostels join in. Give it a chance and it could easily become the resource that you are seeking. To date I have found a load of good stuff here and posting questions usually brings positive feedback. So ask away.

Thanks Plakian for the positive feedback...

This site is focused on a small niche in hostelling, so the forums aren't always active (though there are periods when it gets 100 posts in a very short time -- often triggered by people asking questions). There are also a lot of "lurkers" who read the site's content but who don't post -- several hundred visitors per day, and growing steadily. I think this is the only site of its kind (non-commercial).

I forgot to mention that there are also a few ways to subscribe to hostelmanagement.com and get automatic notifications when there is new content. That is a good option for getting hostel news delivered to your inbox.

Sorry you see my question & comment as negative, see it as you will...all I was doing was asking for other resources on hostel trends & news as I am new to the business world & like to flood myself with info while researching. Aside from questions, I want to read what's being said of the market & industry.

I don't have any specific questions to ask here at the moment. I like to read as much as I can bc that gives me knowledge to things before they even become a question in my head.

I think this site is great, so happy to have found it...it's my home page.

I just thought of another site that you might be interested in: http://www.hotelmarketing.com/ -- it's focused on hotel trends, but some of the info is relevant for hostels also.
