Hostelworld's "Top Rated" Hostels

Hostelworld just started featuring hostels as "Top Rated". Just go to any listing page like this one and sort by rating.

The first 3 hostels get a "Top Rated" mark and gold star.

They always had that feature, it just didn´t appear in the last months. No idea why.

But it does not apply for everyone! Rethymno and ourselves have just received our "Top Rated for 2008" stickers but we don't get a "Star" on our page.

I think you need to have at least 50 ratings.

I guess every hostel on hostelworld received that sticker
We have two hostels and both got these stickers...to be honest: 2 stickers for every place...i think at has nothing to do with the online rating, because we were never applied for any hostelworld award...

Just another way of promotion. But the "recommended by Let´s Go " stickers on our door look even better....

I talked with HW about that feature.

It is appear at the first 3 top rated hostels in each city, but only if they have more than 50 reviews.
They explain that the idea is to be easier for travelers to see the best hostels in the city. And the best means no 98% of 18 reviews

I think that idea is good.
