Post More news on YHA's closing of hostels in Wales

Excerpts:

Quote:
Charity organisation the Youth Hostel Association, which runs the majority of youth hostels in England and Wales, announced the completion of a £350,000 project to invest in existing sites at YHA Pwll Deri and YHA Broad Haven, in Pembrokeshire.

Meanwhile all of the company’s previous bases in North East Wales have closed, with just one affiliated base serving the region and an important satellite site in Chester confirmed to close later this year.

...

"It seems worrying that the YHA is running the risk of going into decline, as the organisation seems to be shutting down more places than building or developing them" said Nigel Johnson, a youth hostel assistant who has been providing services for the YHA since 2005.

...

"We are still keen to find a way to regain a presence in Llangollen and would be interested to hear from any existing accommodation providers who might be interested in working in partnership with us through our franchise scheme."

"We have made money for our business by selling our property, and we would now like someone else to fork out their own money and take total responsibility for a venture in which we invest nothing and take no risk but we can take a percentage share by acting as their publicity agent."
