Default Most expensive property on Hostelworld.com?

The most expensive bed on Hostelworld.com, or a typo?

Sounds fancy:

no, i dont think its a typo - weekend rate for a suite... $250 wouldnt be far off. certainly not supposed to be $25. good chance someone has messed something up though... why would one of the bigger hotel/casino/resort's list on hostelworld?

Take a wild guess...

They are looking for bigger commission properties. Take a look at boo.com, HW is turning themselves to a tripadvisor2... It's just not ready yet! Meanwhile HW can do the job...

And don't tell me I didn't warn ya!

IMO, I think it's misleading to put that kind of property on Hostelworld.com. They should keep the expensive hotels on Boo.com.

To give them the benefit of the doubt, it could just be one that slipped by.

What could happen is that WRI uses its search engine domination to rank for hostel-related keywords, and then when the visitor gets to the site they are directed towards booking more expensive hotels. A few hints of that potential future problem with online booking sites here, here, and here.

That property is listed on the #3 result in Google when you type in las vegas hostels:

No, you are not alone... I'm bashing the table with my shoes as well, so that makes two of us!

Maybe we should set the Free Hostelmanager's Secret Society and do something about it! Too bad there is no Independent Hostels Union so far...

Until there is no such organization, I think we can just lean back to our office chair and wait what happens... and read hostelmanagement.com very frequently! I bet the others do the same!

I was browsing hostels on Hostelworld.com and came across more shocking prices:

Beds from 86 euros? I wouldn't call that a "bed" -- it sounds like a 172+ euro hotel room. Pretty soon Motel 6 will be selling "beds for $40" (as long as you pay for two by booking the whole room at $80)...

Still having difficulty finding hostels on Hostelworld for many cities.

Here is a search for hostels in Grenoble, France - all the results are "beds" in private hotel rooms:

The additional property mentioned at the bottom of the screenshot above at least is priced as a room and doesn't pretend to be selling "beds":

Check this one out -- the number 1 result in Google for "las vegas hostels":

I don't think it's fair to call this "beds from $52.25". It's "rooms from $209". A solo backpacker has to pay $209 to stay here to get the $52.25 rate (or $189 for the single-bed private room).

Edit: the screenshot above is for two nights -- my mistake. It's minimum $209 per night at the $52.25 per bed rate.

I found a Hostelworld property that is even more expensive -- $1200 per night.

The minimum stay is 7 nights - that's why the total is $8400 for one person. The price is $1200 per night.

20,000 hostels? I suspect most of them aren't hostels.
