Last night fumblers

Last night I was working in the hostel and the following funny stories happened:

Around four in the morning, I heard a glass break and a little bit of commotion. I looked out the office door, to find two rather drunk French guests. They apologised profusely and told me they would clean the mess up. So one got the broom, and the other one decided (for reasons only known to himself) that a place mat was better than a dustpan... I watched them amused for a few moments before taking control of the situation, but as the second guy was quite proud of his inventiveness it took me explaining the pros and cons of using a place mat vs a dust pan. Eventually they saw the light but realized they had made the place mat dirty as well...so decided to clean it by putting the mat (with all the glass) in the sink!!!

This reminds me a quote from Murphy's law: It's very hard to make anything fumble free, because fumblers are very inventive! Especially when they are drunk.


Same night, found a guest sleeping on the sofa in the living room with his pillow and duvet combo (a sure sign of a snorer in a dorm), so I tapped his shoulder and gave a set of earplugs, so he could sleep in his room. The guy said thank you, took the earplugs, turned around and continued sleeping on the sofa!
