Thanks for the replies. Interesting stuff...
I use IMAP email (@ hostel management), and Thunderbird as an email client. I've thought about switching back to Evolution.

- Are you happy with your email system?
- Do you have any good solutions for spam?
My email system is okay, but spam is still a problem, even with SpamAssassin. Spammers are figuring out ways around SpamAssassin lately.
Spam is going to be a problem when you have a publicly available mail address.
I am lucky to have my own mail filter that is right over 90% of the time. Spam messages are marked for deletion, one click - all gone to the ether! The filter is personalised with good words (hostel, bed, etc.) and bad words (it's a long list!).
If anyone is interested then contact Uli on this forum.
We use our own name on our own website with Outlook Express or Thunderbird (depends on what you are used to). We have our own spam filters and they are quite effective with a lot of "bad" words on them.
The problem I am having is that one of our email addresses has got in some other spam filters and therefore I am not always convinced that people get our emails.
I have always used an email address with the hostel website name.
Even with a good Spam filter some undesired messages will still through. It is almost impossible to block all spam.
why flood your own e-mail servers with spam when you easily can setup e-mail forwards to gmail accounts and fetch the forwarded mail to your desktop e-mail client? saves your server alot of resources running spamfilters![]()
