Default Rats in Hostels

I saw my first hostel rat on this Asia trip. The hostel was very clean, but there was a big rat crawling across the common room floor late one night.

I don't know much about rats because I don't think they are common in the US. Maybe a hostel cat or two would be a good solution? Possibly two cats needed to take out a rat of that size...

Default Re: Rats in Hostels

Being right next to a river we get unwelcome rodents. One year, maybe 10 years ago, the girls were screaming there were so many of them. Since that time I have kept 2 cats here, the only problem now is that they love to present me with the entrails on my doorstep early in the morning.
A tip: feed the cats first thing, then they go hunting at night.
