Default Hostel Videos
UPDATE: There is now an entire forum section called Hostel Videos. Check it out!

I'm interested in listing examples of hostels that are using online video to promote themselves. Anyone using video to promote their hostel(s) online?

The best example I've seen is from Wombats Hostels (but the videos appear to be temporarily offline).

Here is an example of a hostel chain (Equity Point) using YouTube to showcase their properties:

we're about to start a 'video of the week' contest for our (mostly) long term staff - trying to get videos of 'life on the mountain'. basically, its to generate a heap of fodder for the website - and we'll be giving out prizes in the, so hopefully that'll generate a bit of business too. when it all kicks off, ill try and post a couple of vids.

Great idea... If they are YouTube videos, feel free to embed examples in the forum. The code is [ youtube ] (no spaces) then the code of the YouTube video (a short string of characters and numbers at the end of the YouTube URL), then close it with the tag [ /youtube ] (no spaces).

Like this example but without the spaces:
[ youtube ]4Kv2wrlEQ6w[ /youtube ]

no probs. you wouldnt happen to know a basic video editing program would you? we just want to try and watermark or somehow put our logo in the corner - something to link us to the video if its not being watched on our website (which hopefully is going to be updated sooner rather than later).

There is a list of free open-source video editing programs on Wikipedia.

Here are some free ones -- I haven't tried them though:

A friend made this one about life in Plakias Hostel.
I am reluctant to use it as a marketing tool . . . or?
