Back in 2002, This International Backpackers’ Hostel was the first authentic backpacker hostel to have ever opened in David City, and the 2nd Backpacker Hostel to have ever opened in the entire country of Panama. David, Panama is a major travel hub for people heading to Bocas Del Toro, Boquete, Panama City and Costa Rica. There are only a few small hostels in this city so competition is minimal. We feature a large house currently configured in space that uses the 6 rooms, in a combination of private and shared dorm rooms (a total of 28-30 people). The layout is flexible (the largest dorm room can be divided up into 3 more private rooms) so it is possible to increase or decrease that amount, depending on your personal tastes. There are a total of 5 full bathrooms, 2 which have been recently renovated. In addition to the sleeping rooms, there is a kitchen, Living/Common Room, Reception Area, several outdoor sitting areas, and laundry room. We feature a unique patent pending Splash Pad (big outdoor fountain for sunbathing) which is the only one in existence in Panama! Out back we have banana trees and lemon grass plants, and coconuts!
The business still has a lot of opportunities to expand by offering tours, opening a bar, construction or reconfiguration of more rooms. Although our main clients are International Backpackers, we also attract a mix of expats seeking property, foreigners renewing their Costa Rican visa’s, Peace Corps volunteers, Central Americans traveling on business, student groups, and locals traveling to the region for special national events.
