Hello everyone,

Seeing the end of this pandemic at the end of the tunnel we realize that it could be a good moment to organize the next season.

Our names are Fernando Belmonte and Biviana Medina, from Spain and Colombia respectively, and we feel a strong and sincere motivation in being managers for a hostel, hotel or rural house which is focused on sustainable tourism.

We both have vast experience and knowledge in hospitality as we have been working at a great variety of accommodation businesses in different countries (Spain, New Zealand, Samoa) for the last years: big hotels. rural houses, youth hostels, Bed and Breakfasts, Airbnb houses (https://www.airbnb.es/users/show/302101019) or even resorts like "Beach Fale Resort".

Biviana is also a vegan-vegetarian cook and she has worked as a cleaner supervisor for 3 years in New Zealand.

As well as Spanish (our mother tongue), we speak English at an advanced level (Biviana has an intermediate level) and French at an basic level. We are a really good team who perfectly compensate each other and we can guarantee that the tasks we will be responsible for will be completed accurately and to a high standard.

We are open to move to any country if the project fits with what we are looking for.

Please to meet you here. I am actively searching to start an eco-house-hostel in Colombia. The region of interest is the Santa Marta region. I wouild be very interested to connect with you, and see what can be done. I plan to be in Colombia for 5 weeks in June, and my partner Monique would move there after, and run the business with me. I am thinking of both simple accommodation plus healing physical and spiritual activities in connection also with indigenous lands.

Would help investors to find the location in perfect place, build with bamboo and ex-shipping containers, traditional design feel comfort, green and hygienic.
Bali is still favorite destination for the richest, surfer, backpacker and universal tourist.
Here in Bali, your investment will always growth, you won't lose. Because your hostel would have unique style than others. Some investors could be join in one investment.

Hello World,
As bamboo constructor for about 10 years experienced and eco tour guide in Bali, I would love to build ' Eco Hostel ' with forest and beach themes. Setting close to the beach, target to surfers, backpackers and eco travellers.
The Eco Hostel will build in land about 1000 sqm. Sustainable building of bamboo, ex-shipping container, tropical plants garden, natural pool (next project), local fruits-vegetables plants (organics), solar panels (next project), all types building 2 storeys, Vege-Resto, #1 bamboo lounge (acoustic music + bars) and #2 bamboo lounge (non music & bars, vege bar).
I will take responsible for construction of the Eco Hostel project and sales marketing. Buying/leasehold lands, permits, local company are investors decision.
This Eco Hostel project could be share investment, good profits, ROI less than 5 years, and would be a popular Eco Hostel.

Hi, we are building a hostel in La Plata, Argentina.

I will mention every "eco" action we are taking:
1) Save gas heating water with solar panels
2) Save water with a) electronic faucets, b) we are adding a timed water valve for showers. c) We will recirculate water from sinks and showers and reuse it for toilets, d) we will collect rain water
3) Save electricity a) using only leds lamps, b) we added a electricity saver device: if you do not introduce the room key card, lights (and every electrical device) will not go on . c) use only class A devices such as air conditioning
4) We will try to be a "Zero Garbage Facility", separating paper, glass, plastics, cans, etc and using a sink crusher for organics.
5) Our curtains will be made of used billboards materials
5) Some furniture will be made of recycled wood.

We should have been opened by now, but Argentina is not in like other countries. We had to adapt things to design what we want, meanwhile in Europe, USA or other developed places you can buy them right a way (we adapted an aluminium stair railing to build our rooms lights monoliths). Another example is the "timed shower": we developed the idea and in order to build the system we had to put electronic parts together (some of them are still travelling from China)

Anyway, first half of the hostel will be open in August 2012, and two month later the entire location.

Do you have to treat the water before using it for the toilets? What kind of device do you use for treatment and storage of the recycled water?

YES we have to treat the water before reuse it. By I can only tell you that the first step is to filter it, BUT, give more time, and I will give you more specifications. I have to ask our architects

Our hostel can be consider as Eco Hostel. We made all the furniture from euro pallets:beds, tables, chairs, sofas, small tables and lamps. We are using solar panels for heating the water in common bathroom, led lights for saving electricity, also we have a plan to buy water saving faucets and showers. There is many more saving systems in plan but they are pretty much expensive. We just opened our doors for guests and we are hoping the best!

I am surprised no one mentioned this, but one can make an eco-hostel be more green than in and of itself by educating the residents on green living.

First and foremost, the largest single thing anyone can do to be eco friendly is to adopt a plant-based diet. Animal agriculture is the single largest source of green house gases, soil erosion, water pollution, deforestation, and loss of native species.

Everyone knows reduce, reuse, recycle. A great way to show show this in action is to explain how certain projects around the hostel were completed with these targets in mind.

Having gardens on premises, or even the roof, walls, or in greenhouses can also be a great way to show how to be eco friendly. The more food grown, the less that needs to be bought and transported. You can even water the gardens with reclaimed water.

Making useful items out of natural materials. Teaching people to use bags made from burlap, etc. rather than single use plastic or paper can be a great education tool.

I have been to a lot of "eco" hostels and I haven't found any that I consider green. Sure they might have solar panels, but they sell potato chips and pretzels in plastic bags. Or they serve hot dogs and hamburgers in their cafe's. Being green is not only about reducing ones direct energy consumption as so many people believe. It is also about reducing ones indirect energy consumption and impact on the environment.

Most customers want some meat in their meals. A small garden on a roof or in ground can be a very good idea. Reduced water usage is nice but water from toilets should not be used for gardens. Led lights should be used in locations that run most of the day or night.Gas is better than hydro for heat in cold climates, to supplement solar water heaters.

Most people want meat because they have been indoctrinated to believe it is necessary or that it is harmless. Again, I am emphasizing the point that you can not be, in anyway, called "eco-friendly" by offering the most environmentally destructive product on the planet to your customers. It is like claiming to be a drug rehabilitation center but offering your customers heroine and meth.

I don't think anyone who understands water reclamation and gardening would use toilet water.

Seriously, what is the point of promoting LED's and solar power when you are willing to serve meat? You are focusing on extremely ineffective changes and ignoring the single largest change one can make to be eco-friendly. Do you think an obese person can lose weight by ordering a diet coke along with their double Big Mac, super-sized fries, and cherry pie?
