The next Hostel Management Unconference will take place at Chillout Cengo Hostel in Istanbul, Turkey!

The format of a Hostel Management Unconference consists of small group discussions -- picture something like the HostelManagement.com forums but in person! The Unconference is an opportunity to meet other hostel managers and talk about issues that affect hostels.

Discussion topics will be set by attendees. See the Hostel Management Forums for ideas. (e.g., bedbug control, surviving recession, booking engines, the future of hostelling, hostel networks, etc.) The group will decide on the discussion topics during the Unconference.

The Unconference is organized around a 2.5-day format, with an informal welcome event on the first night and two days of discussions, cultural exploration of the city, and plenty of networking. There are also hostel visits planned for the third day, so stick around and explore the market in Istanbul!

Schedule

Tentative schedule:
5 March: Welcome drinks at the Chillout Lya Bar (Evening)
6 March: Bosphorus ferry tour during the day and meeting in the evening
7 March: City tour with hostel visits during the day and meeting in the evening
8 March: Informal meeting and a Sultanahmet tour with more Hostels to see. In the evening, the big goodbye party!

Price

Attendance at the Unconference is free. Accommodation is free at the Chillout Cengo Hostel in Istanbul on a first-come first-served basis until all beds have been booked. Attendees are responsible for your own food and drinks.

Who Should Attend

In order to make sure that there is enough room for all the hostels that want to attend, the initial registration is open only to hostels. Each hostel may send two people. If you are not affiliated with a specific hostel and would like to attend, please e-mail with information about yourself and why you would like to attend the Unconference.
